Pillole alimentari di diversi diametri, confezionate in astucci bivalve molto eleganti per forma, colore, materia, semitrasparenza e semplicità d'apertura.

Sia il prodotto stesso che l'astuccio e l'adesivo derivano tutti da una unica origine di produzione. Non quindi lavorazioni diverse su materiali diversi da montare poi in una successiva fase di finitura, ma una programmazione di lavoro molto esatta, certamente frutto di un lavoro di gruppo (team-work).

L'oggetto è monocromo ma con sensibili variazioni di tono, ciò gli dà un aspetto appena sofisticato, che però incontra anche il gusto dei consumatori più lontani da una cultura attuale. Il colore è un verde, un certo verde molto noto sotto la denominazione popolare di "verde pisello", colore abbastanza bene calcolato fin dall'inizio della produzione e non più cambiato a tutt'oggi. Questo colore ha determinato influenze cromatiche anche nella moda e nell'arredamento intorno agli anni 20-30.

La forma delle pillole è abbastanza normale benché ci si sia preoccupati di variarle di diametro; ciò che invece risalta per l'originalità, e nello stesso tempo la semplicità della concezione, è l'astuccio: la sua funzione prende forma in due elementi uguali e simmetrici, come si usa progettare oggi per ragioni di economia produttiva, concavi quanto basta per contenere le pillole di cui hanno già l'impronta sia della forma che del numero e della disposizione. I due elementi sono uniti, a perfetta tenuta, da un adesivo che svolge una doppia funzione: come cerniera-molla dal lato minore e come semplice adesivo dal lato più lungo. Tenendo l'astuccio "di coltello", come si dice, tra l'indice e il pollice e facendo una leggera pressione con i polpastrelli, l'astuccio si apre di scatto e mostra le pillole tutte bene allineate in ordine di grandezza. Le pillole potrebbero cadere a terra ma una puntina di adesivo le trattiene così che si possano staccare quando si vuole anche solo toccandole con un dito.

Una delle caratteristiche tipiche di queste produzioni è la variazione nella serie. Problema molto discusso nei vari congressi mondiali di Designers: nella progettazione di un oggetto di grandissima produzione dobbiamo tener conto dei gusti del pubblico e proporre possibili variazioni al modello così da aumentare le vendite accontentando un maggior numero di compratori? Nel caso della produzione dei piselli si riscontra forse una eccessiva varietà: pur conservando rigorosamente forma e colore, si possono trovare in commercio contenitori da dozzine di pillole, da dieci, nove, otto... fino a contenitori da un pisello. Eccessiva variazione e, in definitiva anche un certo spreco. E poi chi compera un pisello solo e, ancora, lo esige nel suo contenitore? Eppure da migliaia di anni questo oggetto continua a essere prodotto in questo modo; il consumatore non fa caso a questi particolari. Comunque è probabile che questa eccessiva variazione sia il risultato di un errore nella ricerca di mercato, certamente fatta prima di stabilire una così grande produzione e in uso ancora oggi per negligenza burocratica.

Anche in questo caso nessuna concessione stilistica di un ormai superato gusto del bello classico o moderno secondo le ultime correnti artistiche, nessuna compiacenza sculturale, nessun facile antropomorfismo, ma un dosato gioco dimensionale delle singole parti. L'oggetto si inserisce con onore nella tradizione tecnologica di una produzione calcolata sia pure con estremo rigore ma non senza calore umano e sociale e, si può forse dire, con un leggero senso di humor.

I chose architecture and decided to find the hidden fonts then lay them out next to each other on drafting paper. I made the covers as blueprint paper and then laid a sheet of velum over and traced it with white china pencil to reinforce the effect of architecture. The photos were self shot and depictured the Miami Downtown area."

The so called german "Trinkhallen" (public refreshment stands, which also offering beer and spirits) are microcosm full of unique individuals who get together in daily routine. It has its own communication, manners and rules which arise out of this places. The goal of this project was an inside look and a better understanding of these so often misunderstood facilities. This magazine is a monograph about the big phenomenon Trinkhalle. During a field research of four month in the Rhein-Main area all sampled anecdotes, tragadies and essays based on personal experience have been transformed into a photographic, literarily and arty collective - shown in this magazine.

O COME PEPSI

si tratta, probabilmente, del più importante restyling di un brand di questi ultimi anni.

Non passa inosservato infatti il nuovo marchio lanciato dalla Pepsi Cola nello scorso ottobre che prevede un investimento di oltro un miliardo e duecentomila dollari per il riposizionamento di tutti i prodotti, dell'adeguamento del packaging e delle campagne pubblicitarie, nei prossimi tre anni.

La nuova immagine della multinazionale dei soft drink parte dallo storico marchio Pepsi- basato sul simbolo tao dello Yin e Yang e reso patriottico dai colori- che viene trasformato in una sorta di sorriso, la cui ampiezza varia da prodotto a prodotto. Il nuovo marchio è stato realizzato dall'agenzia newyorkese Arnell Group.

Proprio in questi giorni primi giorni dopo l'insediamento della nuova amministrazione americana, hanno fatto la comparsa i grandi billboard della Pepsi con lo slogan "Yes We Can". Tuttavia questa campagna, dove il nuovo marchio e il suo inserimento nella "O" di You sembra un ulteriore ammiccamento, ci pone il dubbio che la voglia e la necessità di un rinnovamento abbia permeato così a fondo la società americana da far diventare, forse solo incosicamente e involontariamente, i segni della nuova politica dei valori visivi validi ed efficaci anche per la comunicazione pubblicitaria.

Diese Masterarbeit beschäftigt sich mit der Frage, wie Fotografie als Schnittstelle zum städtlichen Raum funktioniert und welchen Einfluss der Transfer dabei auf unsere Wahrnehmung ausübt.
